| Well, tomorrow morning at 7am, i will be on my way to Mississippi with a team of 130 Southeastern students to work with local churches on their Katrina relief efforts. We will spend the majority of the week tearing down debris and mudding, which i am told is so horrible we must throw away our clothes at the end of the night. Pretty nasty task, but i am excited about this trip and the opportunities to serve where there is so much need.
I was thinking about it, and i love going to World Changers every year. It's the highlight of every summer...but World Changers feels so safe, so protected. You have your little work sites that take you a week to finish and it's a great opportunity to be a witness. But this week, i will be challenged in a way that i have never dealt with before. We will see people desperate for help...people who have gone through so much suffering and wreckage. There will be no clean showers or nice schools to stay in. No churches to bring lunch to us. We will be headin off to the area feeding stations for meals every day. Please pray for us as we begin this trip. Pray that God will use us to bring people to Himself. That is our ultimate task. Clean-up work is important, but our goal in going is to share the love of Christ.
| So...not much going on right now...just the usual day to day stuff. I've been on and off crutches all week, as i do battle with the inner part of me that says forget what the doc says. It's so hard to be able to walk on my leg with relatively little pain, but to know that i am risking tearing it further. grrr.....
But anyways, if it heals up before the 1st of October, i will be heading to the Mississippi coast with 140 Southeastern students to help out with Katrina relief. And yea, that's about the extent of what's happening in my boring life...hopefully i will be able to get internet up and running in my dorm soon.
| So i was in the emergency room from 1am to 3am this morning after killing my knee running. It wasn't fun. I got a shot in the hip for inflammation....yea, it hurt like crazy. So i really don't feel like updating anymore, but i will tell you what's up anyhow. I am on crutches for the next week, with a knee immobilizer, which is a huge brace that takes up my entire leg. I wont be working any more this week, which sucks cause i definitely had a lot of hours that im missing. Oh yea, so what's wrong with my knee? I tore my meniscus or something close...why staying off of it will help it heal, i have no idea, but im following orders this time....i guess. If this is rambling, it's probly cause im doped up on Percaset...or however you spell that. That stuff is pretty strong. Anyways....

| So this semester has been rocky so far...but i have found so many new friends here. I have been hanging out with Karah and Joy constantly and we are just having a blast. Karah and i work together at Dick's Sporting Goods, which by the way is a wonderful job. I have so much fun helping little kids find shoes. I remember being just as excited when i was little. New shoes are fun! This little girl, only 5 years old came in one day and told me she wanted the fastest shoes we sell. I found her a good pair of running shoes and she went to run around our track to try them out. Her mom said that she (the little girl) played with all the little boys in the neighborhood and the boys told her she was too slow to play with them anymore...although the girl could outrun all of them. She cried all night about it so her mom said well maybe we can get you some good running shoes. The poor girl thought maybe if she had faster shoes they would let her play. It made me want to cry...seriously, cause that was me years ago.
So yea, that's my life in a nutshell...i have been out til like 3:30am for the past few nights, just hanging out with the girls. Oh yea, i dyed my hair red...haha, yea me and Karah both did. It's temporary..only lasts a week. It didn't really make it like a realy shocking red, cause my hair is dark. Karah, however, went from a blonde to Mary Jane from Spiderman. It is so funny. Well it is late, so i am gonna get off here. I will be picking up a computer from home next time i go, but it might be a while with this gas shortage. 90% of NC's gas supply is cut off cause of power shortages...in case someone hasn't been paying attention.
